Hello, Holy Spirit Devotional Week 43 – Hello, Presence

Devotional

Moses knew something we often forget: God Himself is the true blessing. The Promised Land, with all its milk and honey, would have meant nothing without Him. Moses was not content with prosperity, success, or security apart from the Lord. His cry was clear: “We want You, not just what You give.”

Presence

The Giving Nature of God

God’s nature has always been to give. From the very beginning, He gave life, breath, and creation to mankind. In His greatest act of love, He gave His Son: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

The Mark of God’s People

What sets God’s people apart is not land, wealth, or power. It is His presence. Without Him, we are no different from the world. Jesus confirmed this when He promised:
“Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

Today, the Holy Spirit dwells within believers as the seal of God’s presence, guiding and comforting us daily (John 14:16–17). Worldly success will fade, but His presence is eternal:
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)

Living for Eternity

God told Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” (Exodus 33:19). He is the great I AM. Through Jesus, we know what awaits us: eternal life in His presence.

As Kingdom Citizens, we live as foreigners in this world, longing for God more than earthly gain. We ask Him for daily bread, but our hearts remain attached to eternity, not possessions. Like Moses, let us choose the presence of God above everything else.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  1. What areas of my life feel barren, lacking, or uncertain, and how have I allowed these absences to define my heart?
  2. How can I consciously declare, “Yet I will rejoice,” even in these seasons of scarcity?
  3. How does remembering God’s past faithfulness and His unchanging presence shift my perspective from despair to hope?

TAKE ACTION: Living the “Yet” Principle

Identify Scarcity: Write down three areas of your life that feel empty, uncertain, or lacking.

Declare Gratitude: For each, speak aloud:
“Though ___ is missing, yet I will rejoice in the Lord because He is enough.”

Act in Faith: Take one tangible step in each area to align your heart with trust and gratitude. Examples:

– Pray intentionally for God’s guidance or provision.

– Serve, bless, or encourage someone else despite feeling limited.

– Sing, journal, or speak affirmations celebrating God’s faithfulness.

 “Yet” Principle in Action:

Yet” declarations that reflect gratitude

Finances / Provision:

“Though my resources feel scarce, yet I will rejoice in the Lord because He is my provider.”

Relationships / Community:

“Though I feel lonely or misunderstood, yet I will rejoice in the Lord because He is my constant companion and friend.”

Career / Purpose:

“Though my plans have stalled, yet I will rejoice in the Lord because He is my guide and directs my path.”
