Truth Devo Week 5 – Revive: Power of the Holy Spirit

Posture: When You Know, You Know

The woman who bled for twelve years knew what it meant to live in ongoing anguish. Every doctor and every human solution ended in disappointment. Yet those twelve years were not wasted; they were formative.

Through suffering, her faith was shaped. Through endurance, her posture was aligned. Her story became biblical history so that you and I would know how to position ourselves to access the power of the Holy Spirit as God intended, through alignment and not impulse, but through Jesus.

Impulse: Reactionary Faith

Wanting outcomes without heart transformation and mind renewal is what gives birth to a reactionary faith, a faith driven by urgency rather than maturity. The woman’s healing is often explained as a momentary touch, but Scripture reminds us that the power she accessed was promised. Her faith was not impulsive; it was formed through endurance and posture. Her story teaches us that when the only resource left is the Holy Spirit, how we stand, how we align, and how we position ourselves before God matters.

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” — Acts 1:8

Endurance Forms Posture

Endurance is not passive waiting. It is active submission over time. Submission gives birth to obedience rooted in the knowledge of God’s love. When we know we are loved by God, we understand that suffering is not a punishment but an opportunity to reap the benefits of perseverance.

Scripture teaches that endurance shapes who we become before it ever changes what we receive.

“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” — James 1:4

PERSONAL REFLECTION

What Posture Means Biblically

Posture is not a physical position. Posture is the inner stance of the heart and mind before God, formed over time through endurance.

Posture answers three important questions:

How do I stand when suffering does not resolve quickly?
Do I remain submitted to God’s process, or do I grow weary and seek relief outside of His will?

What do I align with when human solutions fail?
Do I align my thinking with fear, frustration, or control, or do I align my mind with God’s truth and promises?

Where do I position my trust when God is my only resource?
Do I rely on my own understanding, or do I fully entrust myself to God’s power and timing?

Posture reveals whether faith is reactive or formed.

NEXT STEPS FOR APPLICATION

Memorise what posture means in the Spirit.

Pause before responding when pressure rises. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what posture you are taking.

Identify one area where endurance is being developed in you right now. Submit that area to God intentionally.

Replace urgency with alignment by anchoring your thoughts in Scripture rather than circumstances.
