Hello, Holy Spirit Devotional Week 37 – Hello, Faith

Transformed Hearts: When Love Flows Into Obedience
Deuteronomy 7:9 reminds us that God’s covenant of love, in Hebrew called berit chesed (בְּרִית חֶסֶד), means a covenant of love and steadfast loyalty. It is about quality and essence, not just possession. God’s faithfulness is not a fragile contract we can break with our failures. It is a relationship rooted in steadfast, loyal, unfailing love.
Notice the connection between love and obedience. In the original language, they are inseparable: love naturally flows into obedience. Obedience is not a checklist; it is the expression of a heart transformed by His Spirit. When we genuinely love God, obedience becomes a natural response, arising from the desire to align with Him, not from obligation.
Even when we fail, God’s covenant love endures. One generation may stumble, yet His faithfulness carries forward to the next. As Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice” (John 10:27). Being “of Him” anchors us in His steadfast love.
Under the Old Covenant, obedience was external, written on stone, through law and ritual. Under the New Covenant, through Jesus, God writes His law on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:33) and empowers us through the Spirit to obey from love. The old skin of striving and self-effort gives way to the new skin of Spirit-led transformation (Luke 5:36–39).
From the Old Testament to the New, God’s love and expectations remain consistent. What changes is how we experience His covenant.
Hello Faithfulness!
Faithfulness is God’s signature. His love is relational, covenantal, and enduring. When we love Him first, obedience follows naturally. This is not obligation; it is alignment. Love expressed in obedience reflects hearts that belong to Him. Love and obedience are inseparable; hearts transformed by His Spirit naturally align with God’s covenant.
