Purpose Notes By Rotimi Kehinde Part 1: The Secret of True Fulfillment
Can true fulfillment ever be attained? Is it possible to feel that calming rush of contentment and deep-rooted satisfaction from accomplishing something truly significant every day? Or are we doomed to taste those magical moments like fleeting emotions?
We live in a fast-paced world; people are always on the move to meet their needs and announce their accomplishments. In most cases, it seems like a drive to satisfy the narrative and show off our achievements rather than a deeper, more personal awareness of our growth.
The impermanence of this feeling of greatness is often why we are never satisfied. You work hard for that promotion and then realize you’re still far from where you want to be. Maybe, because someone else in your network just announced their wins. It’s just never enough.

The big reward is often a seed birthed in the need to accomplish great things based on personal motivation, and of course, as social animals, we desire that others experience our greatness. Still, it loses its taste when all our reward is in the immediacy of digital likes, hearts, comments, and high-fives on social media.
“I must have it now” often leads to dissatisfaction. So why do we keep chasing after the thrill of fulfillment based on financial or career progress? Why do we try to show off our fancy homes and cards to give ourselves that inner feast of a temporary high? It never lasts. Your ego gets to eat, but then you realize it’s always never enough. Fulfillment isn’t a function of wealth or status. Tweet that.
True fulfillment is not in the number of possessions one has or the unbelievable feats one has achieved. It is in finding purpose and doing everything to feed that purpose. This is when one can say they are truly fulfilled. It’s more of an inside job than what people see on the outside, and that is the secret.
True Fulfillment: What Does it Mean?
True fulfillment is the satisfaction derived from accomplishing your unique purpose, which one can attain daily. I believe a divine imprint is revealed in our framework and showcased in our gifts, talents, and the problems that get our attention.
When we rise to take on a personal mission fueled by purpose, fulfillment is birthed, not just at its completion but in the milestones along the way. I say this because great accomplishments require great inner growth, and as I self-analyze over time, I see areas in which I have been transformed.
This mindset takes you out of the rat race and positions you with a mentality of abundance, one where your perspective changes. You’ll no longer allow yourself to be measured by the societal definitions of success and realize a new and fresh joy that comes from within. This is the purest form of positive emotions, one that is not circumstance-driven but quality-driven.
How to Find True Fulfillment
From our discussion above, it becomes pressing that one seeks how to find true fulfillment. Here are a few tips to help you out:
Seek purpose
Finding purpose is the most crucial factor when it comes to finding fulfillment. You are uniquely created and infused with purpose, but you must find out why.
I share how to find your purpose in my book Your Purpose is Calling, which is coming soon.
Change the rules of the game
Fulfillment isn’t about relying on the perceptions of others; it’s an internal work. Fulfillment is a deeper sense of joy from discovering your mission on earth. And once you find it, you must fan your purpose to flame, feed it, and take steps to make it work.
Once you have figured out why you are here, you should start setting goals to lead you towards fulfillment. This means that you can feel that sense of fulfillment every single day! WOW! That’s how I live my life. Keep taking those steps in your purpose, and you’ll keep seeing growth. Your motivations change from people-pleasing to growing into a better leader, a faithful spouse, a masterful colleague, a visionary innovator… whatever field or vision you have been given to lead in.
Push yourself to grow
Knowing your purpose and not feeding it is like having a Tesla and not charging it. Stagnant water stinks. You cannot remain on the same level and expect to fulfill your purpose. Learning and self-improvement never stop as long as we are breathing.
The best way to fuel your purpose is to gain knowledge that will inspire and fortify you in that area. Figure out the knowledge and skills that you need. Watch out for the latest trends relating to your purpose. Acquire as much as you can so that you can dispense as much as possible. Remember, you cannot give what you don’t have. Excellence is the next level so strive to attain excellence.
Stay grateful
There’s always a tendency to feel like you haven’t achieved much or could have done more. Sometimes, you may feel like you are not where you should be in terms of achievement. However, one must constantly be grateful because, while you aren’t where you think you should be, you are no longer where you used to be.
Life is in stages, and you must be grateful for each one. Be thankful for each achievement, lesson, connection, and failure. Why should you be grateful for failure? The truth is, we never fail; we only learn. Gratitude presents many benefits, including better health, improved productivity, and overflowing joy.
