Truth Devo Week 10 – Unlocking The Deeper Things
Our courage does not come from our own strength; it comes from the Spirit of Christ living within us. Peter did not know that one day he would lay down his life for Jesus. Yet Jesus understood the cost of faithful obedience and prepared Peter to face it. Peter learned a critical battlefield truth: courage requires mental preparation. Each day, each moment, he would need to choose obedience—even under persecution, even to the point of death. This mental readiness is what equips every soldier in Christ’s army to face trials boldly.

Truth in Opposition
Opposition on Earth is temporary and often painful. But knowing that our eternal reward is imperishable gives us the ultimate advantage. Jesus demonstrated that conquering spiritual death was greater than any physical pain He endured. Jesus’ suffering included not only physical pain but deep mental anguish and despair. In Gethsemane, He prayed, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death” (Matthew 26:38), showing the weight of what He bore for us. He teaches us how to endure the hardships and pressures of life while preparing us to serve as His army on Earth.
Standing as Jesus’ Army
To the world, the followers of Christ may appear weak, fearful, or foolish (1 Corinthians 1:27). Yet what seems like risk or vulnerability is an opportunity for God to demonstrate His glory, faithfulness, and power through us (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). Even in the face of opposition or suffering, we can trust that God’s power sustains us. Jesus reminds us, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Our courage does not come from ourselves but from the Spirit living within us, enabling us to stand firm even when the world sees weakness.
