Christians and the Anointing: Benefits of the Anointing to the Christian
The anointing is God’s seal over our lives to set up apart, empower us, and protect us. When you view the anointing from this standpoint, it is clear that every Christian should be anointed. The anointing should come with the package when we give our lives to Christ and receive the Holy Spirit.
Due to our human nature, we sometimes believe that some Christians are more anointed than others. That’s a discussion for another day. The crux of this post is to show you the benefits of the anointing to every Christian. If we say that every believer is anointed, what advantages does the anointing present us?

Explaining the Anointing
To set the foundation of this discussion, we must first attempt to explain the anointing. There are numerous definitions, each one relating to different experiences. Because of this, we must dive back to the word’s origin. “Anoint” is a Greek word “chrio” that means “to set apart” or “consecrate.”
From this can deduce that “to anoint” is not just to “smear or rub oil” over a person or thing. It means to separate and make sacred. The moment we gave our lives to Christ, God separated us for Himself. He anointed us by His Spirit so that we became different from other humans, consecrated to Himself.
Benefits of the Anointing
You will never truly enjoy the benefits of a thing if you don’t know what those advantages are. Having the anointing presents us with an array of exciting benefits. Tapping into these benefits for our lives enables us to achieve mind-blowing results. Here are a few benefits of the anointing to a Christian:
Empowerment
The root of the word “empower” is “power.” Acts 1:8 says that we will receive “power” to be God’s witnesses when we receive the Holy Spirit. The anointing only comes when the Holy Spirit “comes upon us.”
When He comes, we receive empowerment to be witnesses. It means that we have the sufficiency to play our roles in our spheres of influence. Jesus Christ received this same power that made Him go around doing good and healing all kinds of sicknesses (Acts 10:38). Remember when Jesus said that believers would do greater works than He did? We can only carry out those works after receiving empowerment from the anointing.
Fruitfulness
Psalms 1:3 says that the righteous shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season. We have already established the truth that God has anointed every Christian. Because of this anointing, we receive the ability to be fruitful. In other words, our lives produce fruit regardless of our spheres of influence.
Whenever you put your hands down to work, it yields fruitfulness. Isaac is one of the profound examples of this fruitfulness. The Bible says that Isaac sowed in the land and received a hundred-fold harvest in that same year. Remember that there was a famine in the land when he sowed. The only reason he could reap so much during a famine in a strange land is the anointing.
Destroys yokes
Isaiah 10:27 says that the yoke is destroyed because of the anointing. A yoke is anything that restricts you, preventing you from achieving desired results. When a yoke is cast on an animal’s neck, that animal lacks freedom. It can only go at the pace of the yoke driver and loses its will totally.
Have you found yourself in such situations where you feel boxed in, held against your will, and restricted? Here’s some good news for you, the anointing breaks the yoke. Nothing can hold you down or limit you any longer because of the anointing upon your life.
Dispels fear
Fear has torment. God has not given us the spirit of fear. Instead, God has anointed us with His Spirit so that we have love and power that dispel every kind of fear. There are sufficient “fear not-s” in the scripture for each day of the year. God is mindful of the issues surrounding us that can cause us to worry or fret.
One of the reasons why we receive the anointing is to dispel fear. Another scripture says that “the righteous are as bold as a lion.” How does boldness come? By virtue of the anointing. If you have been struggling with fear and worry, understand this. God has made sufficient provision for you on every front, so you don’t need to be afraid.
Conclusion
These are just some of the benefits of the anointing to a Christian, there are several others. God has given us the privilege of the anointing to make us better individuals. We will attain more outstanding results with the anointing. What other benefits of the anointing do you know? Kindly drop them in the comments section below.
