Truth Devo Week 3 – Redeem: The Path to Redemption
Scripture
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” – Luke 19:10
Redemption is the answer to the question humanity has been asking since the fall: How do we get back to God? Across cultures and centuries, people have searched for pathways to the divine. Altars were built, prayers spoken, rituals performed, sacrifices offered. Yet as the methods multiplied, the distance grew.
Religion became man’s attempt to reach God. Systems, traditions, doctrines, and rituals were created to explain, regulate, and preserve worship. But religion, shaped by human limitation, could never fully restore what was broken. The problem has always been sin, separation, and the inability of humanity to bridge the gap on its own.
Redemption is God’s answer to religion’s failure. Instead of humanity climbing upward toward God, God stepped downward toward humanity. Jesus did not come to establish a religion; He came to restore our relationship to God. He left glory, entered history, took on flesh, and carried the weight of sin so that humanity could be reconciled to God.
To redeem means to bring back what was lost at a cost. It was the life of Christ. God knew rejection was possible. He knew many would refuse Him. Yet He came anyway. That is love beyond logic. That is grace beyond words. This is love.
The cross reveals the heart of redemption. Jesus took our sin, shame, and separation so that access to God could be restored. Through Christ, worship becomes relational again—spirit to Spirit, heart to heart.
So while there’s a multiplicity of pathways, there is only one that truly leads to the Father. That is Yeshua. Through His sacrifice, we no longer have to perform rituals, but we can live in surrendered love. Through Jesus, humanity is invited back into direct access with God, not as servants trying to earn approval, but as sons and daughters restored by grace.
Song
Prayer
God of redemption, we thank You for choosing relationship over regulations and grace over condemnation. We acknowledge that we could not reach You on our own, yet You came to us in love. Through Jesus, we have been redeemed and restored. Holy Spirit, draw us deeper into a relationship with the Father. Free us from striving, performance, and fear. Teach us to live as redeemed people, rooted in love and aligned with Your purpose. Use us to reflect Your redemptive heart to the world. Amen.
Personal Reflection
– Where have I relied on performance or tradition instead of a relationship with God?
– How does understanding redemption as a relationship reshape how I worship and live?
– In what ways is God inviting me to help others move from religion into relationship?
Take Action
– Spend time this week reading the Gospels, focusing on how Jesus relates to people rather than religious systems.
– Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where faith has become routine instead of relational.
– Reach out to one person who feels distant from God and reflect Christ through compassion, listening, or prayer.
– Practice direct, honest prayer this week—speaking to God relationally, not formulaically.
