No one would have thought that a faith-based movie focusing on the life of an ex-Homeland security agent would beat several blockbuster movies in box office ticket sales this summer. Well, the movie has overshadowed several bigger-budget movies, making a name for itself this summer.

The movie sits in the number 10 spot having beat several supposedly more popular movies like Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One which has made just $161 million and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny which amassed $173 million.

When Sound of Freedom was released on July 4 this year, many critics never expected it to make any serious waves. Shockingly, it has attained overwhelming success and now, we’re expecting it to do more. Several weeks after its release, the movie is still being shown at over 2,000 theaters.

Making Impact

For a movie to achieve so much success, it is definite that it is making a lot of impact. This movie has done more than just entertain viewers as it spreads the word about human trafficking. One of the reviews about the movie said, “From the very beginning, this movie had me choked up, tugging at my heartstrings. It effortlessly keeps you on the edge of your seat, igniting a fire of determination to see the bad guys brought to justice and the innocent children saved. I cannot recommend it enough – Jim Caviezel’s performance is truly awe-inspiring. You can feel the passion and dedication he poured into this role, leaving a lasting impression on your soul,” said one review about the film.”

Another review said, “Amazing movie and brilliantly made. It was a roller coaster ride with pure emotion and made you think of how people can do this dangerous and heroic job, which can bring you to tears of what they have to see and experience.”

A survivor of human trafficking, Lisa Michelle, who founded Untethered Ministries located in San Antonio, commended the movie for providing her with a special opportunity. She said, “I felt like the baton was passed to me after that film. Everyone’s calling. People are wanting to volunteer, to donate, and all of that, so it’s giving the voice back to me and helping me to navigate the conversation into our real-life trafficking cases that we’re seeing today.”
