Hundreds of Vacationers Turn To Christ In Mallorca Party Zone

Mallorca party zone

Mallorca, an Island in Spain, is known as a reputable vacation spot, where nightclubs and partying are the norm. However, for two weeks this summer, hundreds of people in Mallorca turned to Christ through an outreach that involved boardwalk prayers, beach services, and ocean baptisms.

According to CBN, Christians from Germany, Switzerland, and Spain worked with local churches to make the outreach happen at Mallorca.

Hundreds Turn To Jesus at Mallorca Party Zone

The outreach at Mallorca was not an impulsive decision. It was a sustained effort to ‘reach people where they are.’ The core concept of the outreach was ‘don’t preach, just be.’

According to CBN, Gernot Elsner of Gospel Tribe says Mallorca is a fruitful place for evangelism despite its reputation as a partying zone. He says,

“Well, you got to imagine the party zone and there’s a little boardwalk just in front of the discoteque, and people, they step outside just to take a break from drinking and partying. And we are there right in the sand with a little stage. And first, when they see us, they’re kind of perplexed because it’s the last thing they imagine to have somebody talk about Jesus right there,” Elsner described. “They come back every night, they listen to the messages, to the testimonies. Some give their lives to Jesus, and others are even baptized in the ocean.”

The outreach also included a party boat evangelism.

“Usually these boats are used for party tourism so that people would get drunk on the boat, they would listen to music and all that,” he explained. “We filled it half with Christians and half with non-Christians… And then the concept was that we wouldn’t preach at them, but that we only share a small input about the gospel. And those people on the boat that are Christians, they knew what their job was.”

The outreach was effective. Many people turned to Jesus, and some were baptized during the nightly baptisms.

Many people have been receptive to the gospel at Mallorca; some are just curious, and a few are not interested. It was also noted that some prodigals at Mallorca who were formerly Christians turned back to Christ during the outreach.

The revival at Mallorca has taught us that the gospel can be preached to people where they are, even in a party zone.
