Truth Devo Week 21 – Refine – Training, Practice & Growth
Most soldiers do not naturally enjoy exhausting drills, correction from authority, or uncomfortable preparation, yet these very processes prepare them for survival in battle. God often uses difficult seasons in our lives to expose weaknesses that comfort hides.

Exhausting drills stretch the body beyond ease. Correction from God confronts our mistakes and limits our ego, exposing the heart and calling us to endure uncomfortable preparation that removes dependence on comfort and familiarity. No soldier “feels good” during training. In the same way, God uses difficult seasons to reveal inner weaknesses and develop spiritual strength that comfort would never produce.
The goal of this process is not exhaustion for its own sake, but formation that leads to stability, clarity, and endurance. What feels like pressure in the moment often becomes the very ground where discipline is built, character is refined, and spiritual strength is established. In seasons of difficulty, God is not withholding growth. He is actively shaping it. Those who remain in the process without resisting it begin to develop a steadiness that cannot be produced in comfort, but only in training.

Reflection
- Where in my life have I mistaken discomfort for defeat instead of recognizing it as formation?
- What weaknesses is God currently exposing that comfort previously allowed me to ignore?
- Am I resisting the process of training, or am I allowing it to build endurance in me?
Truth Alliance: What feels like pressure, correction, or difficulty is not meant to destroy you. God is using it to develop you.
Foundational Truth: God is not only calling believers to stand in His Spirit and in truth.
Rules of Engagement: Active participation:
Watch: Maintain a posture of discernment. Notice what is being shaped, what is being corrected, and what is being uncovered in your inner life. See pressure not as confusion, but as formation taking place in real time.
Pray: Remain connected and surrendered during pressure. Keep your heart aligned when your emotions feel unstable and your understanding feels limited.
Move: Move in obedience that matches your spiritual formation. Obey what is being formed in you, even when it is uncomfortable.
