Truth Devo Week 6 – Reclaim: Dominion & Authority

Truth Devo

God often assigns believers to spaces that feel compromised, resistant, or even hostile. These placements are rarely comfortable and never accidental. We often assume that if God places us somewhere, change will be immediate and visible. Yet Scripture tells a different story. Jesus taught that His Kingdom is not of this world, even though it coexists within it.

Authority

When Jesus was assigned to save the world, His obedience led Him to the cross before resurrection power was revealed. Assignment is not the same as victory. There is power in obedience. The enemy may have influence in culture, systems, and institutions, but influence does not equal authority. Satan’s dominion is limited and permitted. Christ reigns above all, and His power has already been revealed and established through the Resurrection.

Reclaim your Assignment

Believers are not sent to dominate culture but to remain faithful within it, bearing witness through obedience, truth, and endurance. The power of the Holy Spirit lives in you. Light does not eliminate darkness instantly; it exposes it, restrains it, and reveals what is real. If you find yourself in a space that feels heavy, resistant, or unchanged, do not rush to assume failure. You may be standing exactly where God has assigned you.

Reflection

Which areas of my life am I giving a footstool to the enemy, allowing discouragement to keep me from stepping fully into my assignment?

Am I letting shame, fear, worry, or doubt prevent me from taking dominion over areas I know I am called to steward in Christ?

Where might God be calling me to stand firm rather than retreat?

Action

Set aside time to engage the Word of God, not only as Scripture to be read, but as the living, active, double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Allow it to confront lies, strengthen obedience, and renew your mind.

Stand in what is written.
Use what has been given to you by Jesus.
Reclaim dominion by walking in obedience under Christ’s authority and the power of the Holy Spirit.
