Truth Devo Week 13 – Re-Evaluate: Focus on What Really Matters
There are moments in the life of every disciple when what is in front of them feels insufficient. The task seems larger than the resources available. The calling feels greater than the strength they possess. Yet Scripture reveals that this place of “not enough” is often where faith begins.

Faith Begins in the “Not Enough”
Faith is the first assignment for every follower of Jesus Christ. Before God multiplies anything, He invites His people to trust Him. The small acts of obedience that follow faith become the training ground for spiritual growth. Each step of trust prepares the disciple for the greater mission God is unfolding.
Throughout Scripture, we see a consistent pattern in the way God works.
- God begins with insufficient resources.
- Faith activates obedience.
- Obedience releases God’s power.
- God brings multiplication.
This pattern appears again and again in the lives of those God calls. When God sent Moses to confront Pharaoh, Moses did not possess an army or influence. He only held a staff in his hand (Exodus 4). Yet that ordinary staff became the instrument through which God demonstrated His power.
When David stepped onto the battlefield to face Goliath, he did not carry armor or weapons of war. He held only a sling and a few stones (1 Samuel 17). What appeared insignificant became the means through which God delivered Israel.
When thousands gathered in the wilderness to hear the teaching of Jesus Christ, the disciples found only five loaves and two fish among the crowd (Matthew 14). What seemed insufficient became more than enough when placed in the hands of Christ.

In each of these moments, the starting point looked small, limited, and inadequate. Yet God repeatedly chooses to begin with what appears insufficient so that His power, not human ability, will be revealed.
Your assignment may feel overwhelming. The resources may appear too few. The path forward may seem unclear. But God is not first looking for ability; He is looking for faithfulness.
Every call from God begins with something already placed in your hand. Take a moment to consider what God has entrusted to you today. It may appear small. It may seem limited or ordinary. Yet when offered to God in faith and obedience, what is small becomes the beginning of something greater.
Your responsibility is not multiplication. Your responsibility is faithfulness. Remain faithful and consistent in the small things. Trust God with what He has placed before you. In His time, He will bring growth and increase. Where faith responds in obedience, God provides the multiplication.

Reflection
In what areas am I holding back because I’m waiting for “enough” instead of trusting God to provide?
What is already in my hand, my skills, relationships, time, or resources, that I can fully surrender to God today?
Where in my life is God calling me to act, even though I feel under-equipped or lacking resources, and what first step of obedience can I take this week, no matter how small, to show Him I trust Him to multiply it?
