Hello, Holy Spirit Devotional Week 8 – Hello, Power
Have you ever felt the power of God surge through you after praying or ministering to someone? If you haven’t, why not take a moment to intercede for someone else? And if you have, congratulations—you’ve tasted one of the most amazing experiences on this side of eternity.
I once hugged someone after ministering to a congregation and felt a tangible release of virtue leave me. That moment wasn’t just emotional and very symbolic—it was the Holy Spirit moving in power.
Yet, how often do we, as believers, overlook the real and present power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and churches? I’ve witnessed firsthand how this power transforms lives:
- A drug addict laying aside their habits completely and never looking back.
- An unbeliever entering an atmosphere of worship, captivated by the presence of God, shedding uncontrollable tears.
These aren’t just stories; they’re manifestations of the Holy Spirit, as unpredictable as the wind, yet deeply discernible to those who seek Him.
Guarding the Power
Sadly, we’ve also seen the misuse of the Holy Spirit’s power—instances where it’s been twisted for manipulation or self-serving purposes. That’s why Scripture calls us to test every spirit (1 John 4:1). The fruits or outcomes of spiritual activity reveal its true source. Ask yourself:
- Does this lead people closer to God?
- Does it produce good fruit, aligning with God’s character?
The Call to Manifest
There are dimensions of God’s glory and power that we, as His children, are yet to fully step into. Romans 8:19 reminds us, “All creation is waiting eagerly for the revelation of the sons and daughters of God.”
Seek His presence. Pursue the power of the Holy Spirit, knowing it comes with tests and refining. But every trial will shape you into a vessel fit for His work, and your testimony will shout of His glory to all who will listen—and even those who won’t.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
