Hello, Holy Spirit Devotional Week 9 – Hello, Joy

Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. The joy that the Holy Spirit gives cannot be compared to anything on the outside. Joy occurs, not because everything is going well in and around you but because regardless of what is happening around you, you know that God’s Spirit is with you, leading you and directing you.

Joy is being excited about what God is doing in your life, even if you cannot see the evidence yet. It is being assured that everything happening in your life as a child of God is for you and not against you. The Bible says in Romans 8:28 (NKJV), “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Choosing joy is choosing to say that God has your best interest at heart and knowing that whatever you go through, you will come out victorious. Joy is not happiness. Happiness is attached to things, but joy is attached to the assurance you have in Christ Jesus.

The Bible also tells us in Philippians 4:4 (NLT), “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!”

Choose joy.
