Total Faith

Total Faith: Trusting In The Holy Spirit’s Leadership

What is total faith, and how do you build faith in the Holy Spirit? Continue reading this post to find out.

Our theme this year is “Hello, Holy Spirit.” Since the beginning of the year, we have studied the Third Person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit. During this period, we examined different topics that further helped us understand His person and power.

One aspect of our lives we must work on as believers is trusting the Holy Spirit to lead us. This faith must be total and unadulterated. David, though living in a time when the Holy Spirit had not been released in full measure, understood this and referred to God as His Shepherd.” This blog post will shed some light on “total faith” and how it relates to our relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Who Is The Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity and is equally God. He is the Comforter whom Jesus promised before His ascension. He is always with us as believers.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  (John 14:26 NKJV).

We must understand the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives to respond effectively to Him. He is not a distant God. Instead, He is close, always ready to help us, and is ever instructing us.

What Is Faith?

Faith is one of the most common words people, especially Christians, throw around without understanding it correctly. To understand this word, it is imperative that we go back to the scriptures.

Hebrews 11:1 gives a profound definition of faith. It refers to faith as the “substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” When we view faith in this regard, it no longer comes across as just a concept. It becomes a reality.

Truth be told, when we look up to God for something, say provision, it is easy to quote scriptures about supply and say we have faith. However, what happens when we have all that we need at the time? Do we exercise faith to build a relationship with Him? When it comes to the Christian and the Holy Spirit, faith must go beyond transactional and become relational. This is when we can say we have total faith in Him.

Trusting The Holy Spirit’s Guidance In Total Faith

One of the Holy Spirit’s key responsibilities in the life of every believer is providing guidance. Do you obey the Holy Spirit’s instructions and follow His guidance when He speaks? As a believer, the hallmark of faith is obeying God’s instructions promptly. We must listen to the instructions of the Holy Spirit and trust His guidance through obedience.

Total Faith involves carrying out the Holy Spirit’s instructions even if we do not understand His leading. Faith is not about feeling; it is about acting. Faith translates to obedience. It is the actions that we take in faith that lead to the blessings, peace, and wisdom we desire.

“So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17 NKJV)

To cultivate faith, we must learn to study and obey God’s Word. Our faith grows when we expose ourselves to God’s written Word in the Bible.

Conclusion

Total faith in the Holy Spirit is not a feeling or a vague concept. It should be our reality as Christians. Build faith in Him by establishing a working relationship. You must go beyond having faith in what you can receive to trusting Him to lead your life every step of the way. Again, spend time with the Word, for this is the way to build your faith.
