Truth Devo Week 19 – Reassignment – Managing Missions
Missions have always been one way to reach out to the unsaved and tell them about Jesus. Missions have existed long before now and continue to this day. We have heard stories about missionaries traveling to remote places around the world to preach the gospel. Furthermore, it is important to note that missions do not have to be grand or of a particular fashion, but rather to meet people’s needs and point them to Jesus.
Regardless of the tools, innovations, or inventions that have transformed missions, one thing is certain: the need to reach out to people, help with specific needs, and tell them about the gospel. What mission is God calling you to take on? As Christians, our lives must go beyond paying our bills, chasing after our wants, striking off our to-do lists, and looking good on the outside. We were made for so much more. The gospel is first inward and then outward.
We need to adopt a redemptive mindset that makes us stop, intercede for others, and bring them to the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In the Bible, Jesus his disciples on missions and to this day, we are called to the mission field locally and globally. If you have never considered embarking on missions around you or elsewhere, you can pray to God to open your eyes to where He wants you to go or where you are needed. It is also important to note that missions do not have to be located in certain kinds of places to be called “a mission.” Missions can happen in any community that God sends you to.

Another way you can get started is organizing outreaches. You can do this in your local community. Some types of outreach include prison outreach, medical outreach, back-to-school outreach, and so on. You also can join others in their outreach; you don’t have to wait till you have yours. You can also join others on their missions; you can travel with them and also volunteer. If you are unable to go with them, you can also donate to the cause. The possibilities are endless. You should also pray for missions you come across, regardless of whether you serve with them on that mission or not. Your prayer would go a long way. Intercede for missions across the globe.
Managing missions is not something to be taken lightly; it is serious work, and we should be committed to fulfilling our mission duties to the best of our abilities. Open your eyes to the needs around you; don’t be oblivious to the challenges your neighbors face or the happenings in your community. You might just find an opportunity to spread light and preach the good news of Jesus. The most important thing is that you are being led by the Holy Spirit. And so, pray to God to lead you and direct your steps. God is always on mission. You should too.
