Truth Devo Week 20 – Reach – Events, Outreaches & Evangelism
As Christians, we need to get into the habit of reaching out to people with the best news ever–the good news of Jesus. It is news we cannot keep to ourselves; we need to share it to the ends of the earth. Jesus commissioned ordinary people for an extraordinary mission. The Gospel was never meant to live inside a church building or stay locked in our personal testimonies. It was always meant to travel. And it was always meant to travel through you. So, as Christians, we should get into the habit of reaching out to people with the good news of Jesus.

Evangelism can take different forms. Whether it happens in a sanctuary, a stadium, a backyard, a livestream, or an event, we should use every opportunity to talk about the gospel. Events are opportunities to connect over like-minded interests, needs, and topics. What an awesome way to talk about the gospel of Jesus! Events can be either virtual or physical, and both can be highly relevant so long as the goal is clear and well-defined.
If God has put it on your heart to organize events as a way of reaching people, take that seriously. You are not just planning a program. You are hosting heaven’s invitation. So before you book the venue, book time with the Holy Spirit. Before you fill the room, ask Him to fill you. Furthermore, with the advent of the internet, evangelism has gone beyond physical spaces to include digital landscapes, making it more dynamic, globalized, and the experience instantaneous. As such, be open to the possibilities of virtual events and outreaches, and remember our core focus is to preach Christ.
