Hitting The Streets Org Leads Massive Community Effort: 6,200 Meals Prepared and Delivered to 24 Shelters in Chicago
The 15th of February saw Hitting The Streets lead a massive community effort. The organization brought smiles to several faces in Chicago. This community effort had 6,200 meals prepared and delivered to 24 Chicago shelters by 112 volunteers in just 3 hours.
About Hitting The Streets
Hitting The Streets is an organization with the tagline, “food and fellowship.” According to the organization, food unites us, while fellowship makes our community stronger. As such, this organization sees itself as a bridge that fosters warmth and inclusivity while helping the faith of those it reaches to grow.
Established in 2018, Hitting The Streets has grown from serving 500 meals to over 5,000 a day. By the end of February 15th, It had served over 167,000 meals to more than 28 shelters in Chicago.

“The Holy Spirit is Guiding us in this journey” is a firm belief of the HTS team as a total of 112 dedicated volunteers gathered to make this possible, working tirelessly to ensure that each bag was filled with food and other essentials.
Organizations such as Guiding Light of Hope, Lions Club, and St Andrew Greek Orthodox Church played a significant role in supporting this event. The Jewel Osco Huntley also donated items and water to help support the cause.
This event and the partnership it generated shows the power of collaboration and community spirit.
When Next Is This Event Happening?
This community effort by Hitting The Streets and its partners is a welcome development that will be organized frequently to help alleviate the sufferings of the needy in Chicago. As a result, another meal distribution event will be held on April 05, 2025. This event promises another opportunity for the community to come together and represent what Jesus teaches us to do, support those in need.
